Why Keara wants to be a voice for children fighting cancer:
Did you know that cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children. This must change! More attention and funding needs to be brought to child cancers.
We need to put a stop to this, and I would love to be the voice that can help demand more funding and research for these poor children. My mother has had cancer four times, & I have watched her go through chemotherapy, surgeries, & the effects of her treatment. The effects of any cancer diagnosis in a family is life changing. I volunteer at RMH, and I see kids that are so sick. I try my best to help them feel better, even for 10 minutes playing or coloring with them. I’m close to some kids and their parents & I want to be a voice for these kids as well as raise the need for caregiver breaks and mental health support. Even if it is 10 minutes. That means the world to kids and their parents seeing their child playing instead of constant pain.
