Why Amy wants to be a voice for children fighting cancer:

I believe I am a good voice for childhood cancer because when I was 10 years old I was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma. I had to quit dance in the middle of the season to start treatment. I was and still am on my studio’s competition team. I had to quit dance completely for that season because I was in the hospital or too sick to go out in public. The next season I came back to dance with a lot of determination and drive to get my stamina and technique back to what it was before I was sick. The chemotherapy drugs cause lifelong side effects. If there were more research, there could be new drugs that don’t have the same side effects during and after treatment. I want to raise more awareness for childhood cancer because I don’t want any kids to have to go through what I did.
