Age: 11
Dance Studio: Maryland Youth Ballet, Maryland
Why Amara wants to be a voice for children fighting cancer:

I would love to be the voice for children fighting cancer because I believe dance gives you an outlet to forget all your problems and let you live and be free in those moments. I myself have alopecia and when my hair started to fall out, I was sad and ashamed, but once I got into the dance studio I felt free and became alive and for that 1 1/2 hours I forgot about my hair and just danced. I left the studio with a new sense of self and confident that only dance, I think, could have given me. My hair has grown back but to this day, whenever I walk into the studio I feel a sense of happiness and freedom that I only feel when I am dancing. I would love to share that happiness and joy with others.
